Canton police seek woman accused in shooting that injured two women

Canton police are searching for a 25-year-old woman accused in a shooting that left two women wounded Tuesday night.

Police said officers were called to the 900 block of Sixth Street SW around 10:20 p.m. Aug. 18 after a 911 caller reported a shooting. Responding officers were initially unable to locate a victim.

About an hour later, staff at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital notified police that two women had arrived with gunshot wounds to their legs. Police said both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims were identified by police as a 22-year-old Alliance woman and a 23-year-old Canton woman. Two additional victims who were not struck by gunfire were also identified during the investigation.

Investigators identified a 25-year-old Canton woman as the suspect. Police said arrest warrants have been issued charging her with four counts of felonious assault, all second-degree felonies. She remained at large Thursday.
