A 60-year-old Newcomerstown man has been identified as the driver killed in a crash Tuesday evening on Interstate 77 in Tuscarawas County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Michael A. Carr.
The crash happened around 4:59 p.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes of I-77 near milepost 74 in Jefferson Township.
According to the New Philadelphia post of the highway patrol, Carr was driving a 2006 Buick Lucerne south on I-77 when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment.
The Buick was pulling a 2027 Kara trailer at the time of the crash.
Carr was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Union Hospital.
Investigators said Carr was not wearing a seat belt. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash.
The highway patrol was assisted at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, Stone Creek Fire Department, York Township Fire Department, Smith Ambulance and Performance Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
