A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening after his motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree in Stark County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 8:34 p.m. on Battlesburg Road, west of Maplehurst Avenue, in East Sparta.
Troopers said Donald W. Baughman, 36, was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Battlesburg Road when he attempted to negotiate a curve. Investigators said the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Baughman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Baughman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Stark County Coroner’s Office, Tri-Division EMS and Luthi’s Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
