A Canton woman has been charged with murder after a man died following an early-morning shooting Sunday at a northeast Canton apartment complex, police said.
According to the Canton Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3 a.m. Sunday, June 14, to the 1900 block of Sixth Street N.E. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found an adult man in the parking lot of the Hillview Apartments suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper back. Police said officers provided first aid and CPR until Canton Fire Department paramedics arrived.
The victim was transported to Aultman Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Investigators identified the victim as Ronnie R. Brown, 43, of Canton.
Detectives later identified a suspect and arrested Leann M. Haynes, 38, of Canton, at her residence Sunday. She has been charged with murder, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the shooting.
