One dead, two injured in crash involving semi-truck in Lexington Township

One person was killed and two others were injured Monday afternoon in a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck in Lexington Township, according to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 12:32 p.m. to the 13100 block of state Route 225 after receiving reports of a serious crash.

Authorities said emergency crews provided medical care to the driver and passenger of the passenger vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, officials said.

Responding agencies included the Lexington Township Fire Department, Alliance Fire Department and EMT Ambulance. The Stark County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Canton Metro Crash Team, the Stark County Coroner’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Lexington Township Road Department.

The cause of the crash has not been released. The investigation remains ongoing by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Canton Metro Crash Team.
