A 40-year-old man was killed and a 36-year-old woman was injured in a shooting Thursday night in Akron, police said.
Officers responded around 7:19 p.m. to the intersection of Marcy Street and Cole Avenue after receiving multiple reports of gunfire, according to the Akron Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a Jeep Latitude with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old woman was found nearby suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip. Officers provided emergency first aid before Akron Fire Department paramedics transported her to a local hospital. Police said her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Detectives with the department’s Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and collected evidence. No arrests have been announced.
The investigation remains ongoing.
