A 15-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a collision with a pickup truck at an intersection in Washington Township, authorities said.
According to the Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:54 p.m. at the intersection of Salem Church Street NE and Hartzell Avenue NE in Stark County.
Troopers said the teen was riding a bicycle northbound on Hartzell Avenue when they failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection. A blue 2015 Ford F-150 traveling east on Salem Church Street NE struck the bicyclist.
The driver of the pickup, a 60-year-old man from Minerva, was not injured.
The teen sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Aultman Hospital, officials said.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
Washington Township Fire Department and EMS, along with Alliance Fire Department, assisted at the scene.
