Last year, the Carrollton girls basketball season ended in the district semifinals to the John Glenn Muskies. This season, the two teams faced off again Wednesday night in the district semifinals and was on course to see the same result.

Carrollton trailed the whole game…that is until the three-minute mark in the fourth quarter when sophomore Kylie Ujcich scored six straight.

With 4:01 left in regulation and down five, Ujcich drained a three-pointer to cut John Glenn’s lead to 50-48. She was fouled :40 later, split a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 50-49. It was only fitting that Ujcich scored on a fast break to give the Lady Warriors the lead, their first of the game with a tick under 3:00 left in the game. The Lady Warriors won the game 60-54.

At one point, Carrollton trailed by 10 in the fourth quarter.

Down 7-0 early in the contest, it looked like Carrollton was defeated, but the Lady Warriors persevered, only trailing 15-12 after one quarter of action. John Glenn maintained the lead the rest of the contest until that forbided 3:00 mark in the final quarter.

Carrollton senior Hillari Baker led her team with 17 points. Demi Leary scored 13 followed by Haley Leslie with 10, including two three-pointers.

Riley Zamensky led John Glenn with 38 points.

The Lady Warriors will play Steubenville at Harrison Centeal on Saturday at 2 p.m.
