Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting that rattled a neighborhood in North Canton.
The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 300-block of North Main Street, according to the North Canton Police Department.
A patrol officer happened to be nearby and responded to the sound of gunshots, traveling northbound towards the scene. The officer discovered a maroon Pontiac Grand AM at the Sunoco gas station located at 550 North Main Street, with visible damage to the vehicle and the driver side door left ajar.
Thankfully, the victim was found unharmed inside the business premises.
As a precautionary measure, all North Canton schools were placed in a soft lockdown at 1:25 p.m., restricting entrance and exit but allowing normal operations within the buildings. The decision was made due to the time of day and proximity of the incident to the school premises. The all-clear was given about 20 minutes later.
Authorities urge anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact the North Canton Police Department at (330) 499-5911. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the department’s Tip Line at 330-966-3633 or utilize the free Tip411 app to submit tips.
