Several McKinley Sebring students fell ill after consuming food in the cafeteria Monday morning during breakfast.
“22 of our 7th-12th grade students consumed blueberry packaged pastries, distributed in the cafeteria during breakfast,” Sebring Superintendent Toni Viscounte said in an email to parents. “Unfortunately, we have since discovered that these pastries contained mold.”
Viscounte said the district is working to address the situation.
“Our top priority is the health and well-being of all our students,” she said.
According to Viscounte, seven students expressed symptoms of being sick.
“We sincerely apologize for this incident and any concern it may cause,” Viscounte noted.
