The man killed by an impaired driver while sleeping in his home over the weekend has been identified.

The victim has been identified as Robert D. Shull Jr.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s office, crews responded to Barth Drive in Green for reports of a vehicle that crashed into a home just before 3 a.m.

When they arrived to the scene, they located Shull Jr. pinned underneath a vehicle that crashed through his bedroom wall.

A 2010 Subaru was heading north on Mayfair Road when the driver, a 32-year-old female from Green, lost control of the vehicle, went across the centerline and crashed into a home on Barth Drive.

Inside the Barth Drive home was 69-year-old Shull Jr. who was sleeping. He was struck by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officials believe speed, alcohol and narcotics use are suspected factors in the crash. Charges against the driver are pending as the investigation continues.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a local hospital
