The New Philadelphia post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an ATV accident that left a 55-year-old man dead.
Troopers say that a Can-Am Maverick KRS 1000R carrying Shawn and Shannon Murphy, 54, both of Fresno, drove off the right side of the roadway on TR 425 (Race Rd) before striking a ditch and overturning. Both of the riders were ejected from the unit.
Shawn Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene. Shannon Murphy was flown to Akron General Hospital.
Both were not wearing seatbelts, according to troopers. Alcohol and drugs are unknown at this time.
The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation.
