HS Basketball Wednesday: Hiland, Tusky Valley split IVC South title; Harrison Central’s Dunkle drops 40 in victory

Jenna Troyer scored 13 points to lead the Hiland Hawks to a 52-40 victory over Garaway Pirates on Wednesday night in Sugarcreek.

Ashley Mullet added 12 points for Hiland, who clinched at least a share of the IVC South Division title with the win.

Mallory Stutzman added 10 points for the victors.

The Hawks’ record improved to 11-1 in the South and 15-7 overall, while the Pirates’ conference record dropped to 7-5 (10-9 overall).

Rylee Putt led Garaway with 15 points, while Meghan Schwartz scored eight points.

TUSCARAWAS VALLEY 51, CAMBRIDGE 21

Tuscky Valley nabbed the other half of the IVC South title with a 30-point win over Cambridge.

Ashley Merrick totaled 25 points for the Trojans (17-3, 11-1 South), while Brook Stookey added 10 points.

Camryn Gebhardt led the Bobcats with seven points.

HARRISON CENTRAL 62, TORONTO 23

McKayla Dunkle set a Harrison Central High School record with 40 points in the Huskies’ Wendesday night victory at Toronto High School.

Emma Fischer added 10 points in the H.C. victory, while Maddy Butler dished out eight assists for the Huskies.

INDIAN VALLEY 47, RIDGEWOOD 27

The Indian Valey Braves earned their second win of the year in a 20-point win over Ridgewood.

Makina Donehue led the Braves (2-18, 1-11 IVC South) with 13 points, while Madison Monte added 10 points and six rebounds.

The Generals (5-13, 1-11 South) were led by Kelsie Stephens’s 11 points.

TUSCARAWAS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 46, BUCKEYE TRAIL 39

Tuscarawas Central Catholic edged Buckeye Trail in a Wednesday IVC North battle.

T.C.C. (13-5, 10-2 North) was led by Gina Sciaretti’s 13 points, while Maddie Ferrell added 12 points for the Saints.

Abbie Wayble led the Warriors (10-9, 6-6 North) with 13 points.

CLAYMONT 47, SANDY VALLEY 38

Claymont improved to 9-10 overall and 4-7 in IVC South play with a Wednesday win over Sandy Valley.

Abbey Parker led the Cardinals (12-8, 6-6 South) with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

MALVERN 48, NEWCOMERSTOWN 31

Malvern’s girls’ team coasted to a 17-point Wednesday night win over Newcomerstown.

The Hornets (10-9, 6-5 IVC North) outscored the Trojans 20-4 to end the contest, as Maddie Powers led the victors with 17 points. Lanie Bower (10 points) and Alyiah Watson (10 points) contributed to the Malvern win.

Ashley Lamers led Nc’Town (1-14, 1-9 North) with 12 points.

MINERVA 65, EAST CANTON 37

The Minerva Lions won a non-conference showdown with East Canton.

Jenna Cassidy scored a game-high 28 points for Minerva (8-11), breaking into the school’s top ten among its all-time leading career scorers.

CVCA 67, FAIRLESS 45

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy handled Fairless High School in a Wednesday face-off.

Gia Casalinova and Joi Williams each totaled 22 points in CVCA’s PAC-7 win.Grace Lyon led the Falcons with 18 points, while Gracie Ashton added 11 points.

CONOTTON VALLEY 38, NEWCOMERSTOWN 37

The Conotton Valley Rockets won a make-up IVC North contest over Newcomerstown.

Conotton improved its record to 5-11 (2-8 North), while the Trojans dropped to 2-17 (0-12 North).
