Mario Lerario heading to prison after accepting plea deal in hit-and-run case that killed Abby Vanest

A Stark County man is heading to prison for the death of a 23-year-old woman.

Mario Lerario, 40, is accused of hitting and killing Abby Vanest in November of 2020 while he was under the influence.

Lerario accepted a plea deal that will send him off to prison for eight years.

He was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to stop after an accident, tampering with evidence, forgery, identity fraud and operating a vehicle while impaired were filed.

Lerario was arrested months after the fatal hit-and-run. He was taken into custody in Atlantic City, NJ.

As part of his sentencing, Lerario will face a full eight-year term and loses his license for life.
