US Marshals arrest man in December fatal hit-and-run of young woman in Jackson Twp

Jackson Twp. police have announced the arrest of Mario Donald Lerario in the December death of Abby Vanest, 23.

Police say Lerario was driving over 95 MPH an hour when his vehicle crashed into Vanest’s on Woodlawn Ave. They say alcohol was also a factor.

Lerario was arrested by the United States Marshals Service in the Atlantic City area on March 11, 2021. He was transported to the Stark County Jail on March 26, 2021, and is charged with the following:
F2 – Aggravated Vehicular Homicide
F3 – Aggravated Vehicular Homicide
F3 – Stopping after Accident
F5 – Selling, Purchasing, Distributing Dangerous Drug F3 – Tampering with Evidence
F4 – Forgery
F3 – Identity Fraud
M1 – Operating a Vehicle Impaired

A Minerva woman was charged with helping the suspect hide.

Police say Jessica Lee Alexandra of Minerva is accused of helping Lerario flee the scene after the fatal accident. She’s been charged with Obstructing Justice (F3) and Tampering with Evidence (F3).

Elias Timothy Eberly of Akron is charged with the following:

F3 – Complicity to Identity Fraud
F4 – Complicity to Forgery.
