15-year-old boy charged with murder after deadly shooting of 14-year-old girl in Ohio

A 14-year-old girl was shot and killed Saturday afternoon, and a 15-year-old boy is now facing criminal charges, authorities said.

Twinsburg police responded shortly before 1 p.m. to the 10800 block of Ravenna Road after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers found the girl on the ground when they arrived.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced her dead at 1:42 p.m. Her name is being withheld until relatives can be notified. Additional details are expected after an autopsy scheduled for Monday.

Police said the teenage boy accused in the shooting has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence. He is being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center.

The investigation involves several agencies, including the Twinsburg Fire Department, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the Valley Enforcement Group and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
