The Canton Police Department is investigating after the body of a man was found in Canton in the Nimishillen Creek under I-77.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Canton Police Lt. Dennis Garren tells JMN they are not releasing the victims name at this time, pending an investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We got a call by a passerby that they saw a body in the creek,” he said. “We responded, located, and retrieved the body.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is unclear how the body got into the creek or how long it was there before a truck driver spotted the body Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Stark County coroner’s office office has not confirmed the identity of the body, but they believe it was a man who was reported missing five days into the New Year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
