A 58-year-old Campbell woman died after a collision involving a semi-truck Monday morning in Mahoning County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Yolanda Medina Matos was pronounced dead at a hospital after suffering injuries in the crash, which happened around 10 a.m. at the intersection of state Route 344 and Cunningham Road, troopers said.
Investigators said Matos was driving a passenger vehicle when she entered the intersection and was struck by an oncoming semi-truck after failing to yield at a stop sign.
The driver of the semi, a 51-year-old man from Salem, was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Authorities said he did not appear to have suffered any injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
In a statement, troopers also urged motorists to obey traffic control signs, emphasizing the importance of coming to a complete stop at stop signs and ensuring intersections are clear before proceeding.
