A Waynesburg woman suffered serious injuries and a motorcycle operator was injured Tuesday evening after a single-vehicle crash in a construction zone on U.S. Route 30 westbound, according to the Canton Police Department.
Officers responded to the crash at approximately 8:20 p.m. June 23 near milepost 156 on U.S. 30 westbound.
According to a crash report, a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by James F. Yeagley, 46, of Waynesburg, was traveling through a work zone when the rider lost control of the motorcycle and struck the roadway.
The motorcycle traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned, police said. Both Yeagley and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.
Yeagley sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported by Canton Fire Department personnel to Aultman Hospital for treatment.
His passenger, Bonnie L. Yeagley, 49, of Waynesburg, suffered suspected serious injuries and was also transported to Aultman Hospital, according to the report.
The crash occurred under clear weather conditions on a dry roadway. No other vehicles were involved.
The roadway remained closed for approximately one hour and 45 minutes while emergency crews worked at the scene and investigators gathered evidence.
The Canton Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
