Two hospitalized after Tuscarawas County fight involving pipe wrench blow to head

Two men were hospitalized Monday morning after a fight at a home in the 300 block of Front Avenue SW, police said.

Officers were called to the residence at 11:21 a.m. on Aug. 11. During the altercation, one man allegedly struck the other in the head with a pipe wrench, according to the New Philadelphia Police Department.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, while a 32-year-old man was transported to Akron City Hospital. Police said one of the men remains hospitalized in Akron.

Authorities are withholding the names of those involved as the investigation continues. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and collecting statements.

No charges have been filed, but police said the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office once the investigation is complete.
