Two dogs were rescued from a burning home on Eastview Avenue NE early Monday morning after a fire tore through a two-story residence, causing heavy damage and rendering the structure a total loss.
The Canton Fire Department was dispatched at 7:15 a.m. to 1453 Eastview Ave NE for reports of a residential fire. Crews arrived just four minutes later to find heavy flames coming from the rear of the home and a detached garage also involved in the blaze.

Firefighters were able to save the dogs during their response. The homeowner was not present at the time but arrived on scene later. No injuries were reported.
It took crews about 40 minutes to extinguish the fire. The home sustained extensive fire and smoke damage and will be demolished in the coming days. Estimated loss to the structure is $28,600.
The resident declined assistance from the American Red Cross.
