The Stark Parks Board of Commissioners has officially approved a new 10-Year Comprehensive Plan aimed at guiding the park district’s priorities, growth and community impact over the next decade.

The plan outlines a long-term strategic vision centered on conservation, connectivity, community engagement and sustainability. According to Stark Parks officials, the plan was developed through public input, stakeholder feedback and collaboration among staff members to reflect the evolving needs of residents throughout Stark County.

As part of the initiative, Stark Parks also unveiled a new mission statement:

“To enrich the quality of life in Stark County by conserving and connecting our natural and cultural resources, while providing meaningful recreation and education opportunities that bring value to everyone in our community.”

Executive Director Dan Moeglin said the plan is designed to build upon the organization’s existing foundation while preparing for future opportunities and challenges.

“This plan represents a roadmap for the future of Stark Parks,” Moeglin said. “It builds on our strong foundation while challenging us to think creatively about how we serve our community, protect our natural resources, and expand access to parks and programs for all.”

Key focus areas identified in the 10-year plan include investing in park infrastructure and visitor amenities, expanding trail connectivity across Stark County, preserving natural habitats and green space, improving accessibility to recreation and educational programming and strengthening community partnerships.

Officials said the comprehensive plan will serve as a guiding framework for future decisions, investments and initiatives as Stark Parks continues adapting to the needs of the community.
