Stark Co. deputies say intoxicated man opened fire on passing car after leaving local bar

Deputies with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office say an intoxicated man who had been at a bar in the Waco area fired a gun late Friday night after nearly being struck by a passing vehicle.

A spokesperson with the sheriff’s office said deputies were called to the Thirsty Cattle Saloon, located at 2521 Waynesburg Drive SE, around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 for reports of a man shooting a firearm.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect had been at the Thirsty Cattle Saloon before crossing the street toward a nearby gas station. While crossing, a northbound car almost hit him. The man then fired a couple of shots in the direction of the vehicle.

No one was injured, and there are no reports of anyone or anything being struck by gunfire.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old William Hyde, was arrested and booked on charges of possession of a weapon while under the influence, attempted felonious assault, and discharging a firearm near a prohibited premises.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
