Rootstown man missing; family offers $10,000 reward for information

Authorities in Portage County are searching for a Rootstown man who has been reported missing, and his family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts.

Darrell Wayt, 5-foot-11 and weighing about 189 pounds, was last seen in the Rootstown area around 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said he was last seen at his home on Cherry Hill and may be traveling in a white Toyota RAV4 Hybrid with Ohio license plate FRA2022 registered in Portage County.

The sheriff’s office confirmed an active missing person report has been filed. Anyone who sees Wayt or the vehicle is urged to call the Portage County Sheriff’s Office at 330-296-5100.

Family members said they are offering a $10,000 reward for information that directly helps locate Wayt.
