Two women who escaped from a Stark County correctional facility Monday evening are believed to remain at large Tuesday morning, according to a Canton police spokesperson.
Lt. Dennis Garren, media relations officer for the Canton Police Department, provided an update to Jordan Miller News shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Asked whether both women were still on the run, Garren said, “As far as I know. I have not heard otherwise but things happen and it takes time for it to get to me some times.”
The women, identified as Hope Skerrett and Kerriah Ohler, escaped Monday evening from the Stark Regional Community Correction Center at 4433 Lesh St. NE.
According to an investigative report, officers initially believed the women might still be on the facility’s roof. Authorities later determined they had fled into a nearby nature preserve.
Canton police and Stark County sheriff’s deputies searched the area using a drone and police K-9 unit but were unable to locate the women.
Police said arrest warrants were requested for both women.
