Pickup driver suffers life-threatening injuries in crash involving dump truck in Stark County

A pickup truck driver suffered injuries that may be life-threatening Thursday afternoon following a crash involving a dump truck in Lexington Township.

Deputies from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on state Route 225 between U.S. Route 62 and Armour Street NE.

According to a preliminary investigation, a southbound pickup truck traveled left of center and struck a northbound dump truck. The impact caused the dump truck to overturn, spilling sand across the roadway.

The driver of the pickup truck was injured and suffered what authorities described as potentially life-threatening injuries. No additional information about the driver’s condition was immediately available.

Assisting at the scene were the Canton Metro Crash Team, Lexington Township Fire Department, Alliance Fire Department, Lexington Township Road Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation. State Route 225 between U.S. 62 and Armour Street NE remained closed Thursday as crews continued their work at the scene.
