The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian Tuesday night in Stark County.
The crash happened around 8:26 p.m. Sept. 23 on State Route 800 near Leatherman Drive, according to troopers.
Investigators said a 2023 Ford F-150 was traveling north on Route 800 when it struck 81-year-old Louis C. Grooms of Magnolia, who was walking along the roadway.
Grooms was pronounced dead at the scene and later transported to the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
Troopers said the East Sparta Fire Department, Tri-Division EMS, Canton Towing and Keith’s Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
