A 63-year-old East Liverpool woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on U.S. Route 30 in Liverpool Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:09 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Troopers said a 2007 Buick Rainier was stopped on westbound U.S. Route 30, partially on the left shoulder and partially in the left travel lane, when it was struck from behind by a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD.
The driver of the Silverado, identified as Neil A. Gilbert, 23, of Martins Ferry, suffered minor injuries.
The front-seat passenger in the Buick, Joyce M. Snider, 63, of East Liverpool, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Buick’s driver, Stacy L. Click, 42, of East Liverpool, suffered serious injuries and was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
A child who was riding in the Buick also was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lisbon Post is investigating the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Liverpool Township Police Department, Saint Clair Township Police Department, East Liverpool Police Department, East Liverpool City Fire/EMS, Liverpool Township Fire Department, Glenmoor Fire Department, Calcutta Fire Department, Negley Fire Department, Lifeteam EMS, Northstar Critical Care, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office.
Both lanes of U.S. Route 30 have since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminded motorists to wear seat belts every time they travel in a vehicle.
