A large fire swept through a dairy farm in Nimishillen Township on Labor Day, drawing assistance from nearly a dozen fire departments as crews worked for hours to bring the flames under control.
The blaze broke out Monday afternoon at the Skolosh farm on the 7400 block of Schmucker Avenue NE, just off State Route 62. Thick, dark smoke could be seen for miles as firefighters battled the flames and pumped water from two portable pools set up at the end of the farm’s long driveway.

Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported. Authorities said all animals, including dairy cows housed in one of the burning barns, were safely evacuated. Nearby farmers helped temporarily relocate the livestock while crews remained on scene.

At least 10 departments responded to the fire under the direction of the Nimishillen Township Fire Department. The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office is expected to investigate the cause, which remains unknown.
