Authorities are investigating a fatal house fire that claimed the life of one person Thursday afternoon in eastern Stark County.
Deputies from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and multiple fire departments were dispatched at approximately 3:42 p.m. Thursday to the 4500 block of Hudson Drive SW in East Sparta after receiving reports of a house fire, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
When first responders arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames.
After firefighters extinguished the blaze, a deceased person was discovered inside the home. Officials said the victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed.
Several agencies assisted at the scene, including the Bolivar Fire Department, Erie Valley Fire Department and the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office.
No additional information was immediately available Thursday evening.
