UPDATE: The road has reopened.
A major gas leak following a crash has prompted an emergency evacuation in Sugarcreek Wednesday afternoon.
According to authorities, the incident occurred near the intersection of state Route 39, state Route 93, and Main Street. As a result, state Route 39 is completely shut down, and officials are urging the public to avoid the area.
Emergency responders are on scene and have ordered an immediate evacuation for anyone within a three-block radius of the leak.
There is no word yet on injuries or how long the road closure will remain in place.
