Canton Police to strictly enforce juvenile curfew during Hall of Fame festivities

Canton Police Chief John Gabbard is reminding residents and visitors that the city’s juvenile curfew will be strictly enforced during this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement events.

In particular, officials will be focusing on the pre-parade route along Cleveland Avenue NW and the downtown area associated with First Friday on Friday, Aug. 1. Both areas will see an increased law enforcement presence, and any unsupervised juveniles found along the parade route after 11 p.m. may result in citations issued to their parents or guardians.

Additionally, the curfew for the city’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA)—which includes much of downtown and all of Centennial Plaza—will be enforced beginning at 9 p.m.

Chief Gabbard said the enforcement is aimed at ensuring public safety and minimizing disruptions during what are traditionally safe and enjoyable community celebrations.

“These measures are in place for the safety of our children and to reduce disturbances that can detract from the positive spirit of Hall of Fame week,” Gabbard said.
