A 37-year-old Canton man was killed Monday evening in a workplace accident at Canton Drop Forge, according to local authorities.
Daniel Chavez died of blunt force trauma after being struck by an object at the industrial facility, Stark County Coroner Investigator Tammy Wilkes confirmed. The incident occurred during work hours at the forge, located in Stark County.
Emergency personnel transported Chavez to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he arrived at 9 p.m. He was pronounced dead inside the emergency room at 9:17 p.m.
Canton Drop Forge has not responded to request for comment.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
