Athletes from 42 local schools and programs will compete this week at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.
Competition begins Thursday and runs through Sunday, with area athletes qualifying in every division as well as the seated wheelchair events.
DIVISION I
Canton McKinley qualified Christopher Crook and Kamar Lucius in the boys 200-meter dash. The Bulldogs also qualified a boys 4×200-meter relay team.
GlenOak qualified Hannah Pace in the girls 300-meter hurdles, Canaan Sommers in the boys 800-meter run, Caydren Saunders in the boys high jump and Emma Studer in the girls pole vault. The Golden Eagles also qualified girls 4×400-meter and boys 4×800-meter relay teams.
Hoover qualified Savannah Tindell in the girls 100-meter dash, Zoe McCort in the girls discus and Kenley Waldorff in the girls long jump. The Vikings also qualified girls 4×100-meter, girls 4×800-meter, boys 4×400-meter and boys 4×800-meter relay teams.
Massillon Jackson qualified Brooklyn Jones in the girls 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Gabby Whalen in the girls high jump and pole vault, Taylor Brownsword in the girls high jump, Will Simons in boys seated wheelchair events and Abigail LaPole in girls seated wheelchair shot put. Jackson also qualified boys 4×100-meter, boys 4×200-meter, girls 4×100-meter and girls 4×200-meter relay teams.
Massillon Perry qualified Emerson Karrenbauer in the girls 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Jayden Wilson in the boys 400-meter dash, Justus Detter in the boys 800-meter run, Evan Laubacher in the boys long jump and Liston Seibert in the boys pole vault. Perry also qualified boys 4×400-meter and boys 4×800-meter relay teams.
DIVISION II
Canal Fulton Northwest qualified Chase Daniel in the boys 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, Justice Hughes in the boys 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Maddie Minnis in the girls shot put and discus, Dante Clark in the boys long jump and Ella Sifferlin in the girls pole vault.
Dover qualified Chase Daniel in the boys 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs, Justice Hughes in the boys hurdles events, Maddie Minnis in the girls shot put and discus and Dante Clark in the boys long jump.
Green qualified Jack Streb in the boys 800-meter run, Samuel Baker in the boys 3,200-meter run, Zoe McCort in the girls discus and girls relay teams.
Louisville qualified Kylah Meyer in the girls 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs. The Leopards also qualified a girls 4×800-meter relay team.
Massillon Washington qualified Denasia Adams in the girls 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Deontay Malone in the boys 200-meter dash and Chayce White in the boys long jump. The Tigers also qualified boys 4×100-meter, girls 4×100-meter and girls 4×200-meter relay teams.
New Philadelphia qualified Caleb Carlisle in the boys 100-meter dash, Nolan Rosnek in the boys 110-meter hurdles, Wyatt Lendon and Alec Adelman in the boys 1,600-meter run, Marcus Adelman in the boys 3,200-meter run, Maricel Alcantra in the girls discus, Mitchell Miller and Jaxson Rice in the boys high jump and Cade Jones in the boys pole vault. The Quakers also qualified boys 4×100-meter and boys 4×800-meter relay teams.
Steubenville qualified Colton Henderson in the boys 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Josiah Rea in the boys 110-meter hurdles and high jump, Ziare Scurry in the boys 400-meter dash, Bri Hudson in the girls discus and Phynyx Fleming in the girls shot put. Big Red also qualified boys 4×200-meter, boys 4×400-meter and girls 4×200-meter relay teams.
Uniontown Lake qualified Andrew Vensel in the boys 1,600-meter run, Justin Landes in the boys discus and Kaitlyn Josef in the girls long jump.
DIVISION III
Beaver Local qualified Landon Wheatley in the boys 300-meter hurdles and high jump, Luke Warrick in the boys 800-meter run and boys 4×100-meter and boys 4×400-meter relay teams.
East Liverpool qualified Maddox Roach in the boys 1,600-meter run.
Indian Creek qualified Dalana Bove in the girls 400-meter dash.
Indian Valley qualified Carsen Hostetler in the boys 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
Marlington qualified Olivia Callahan in the girls 300-meter hurdles, Logan Kuhn in the boys 400-meter dash, Irelyn Johnson in the girls 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs and girls 4×100-meter, girls 4×200-meter and girls 4×800-meter relay teams.
Minerva qualified Owen Shick in the boys 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Tateum Richard in the girls 800-meter run, Rowen Hoffee in the boys 1,600-meter run, Makenzie Beavers in the girls 3,200-meter run and boys and girls 4×800-meter relay teams.
Richmond Edison qualified Matt Evans in the boys 110-meter hurdles and Brett Worrels in the boys long jump.
Salem qualified Chaya Murray in the girls 200-meter dash, Abby Knickerbocker in the girls 400-meter dash, Laura Hovorka and Addison Hopple in the girls 800-meter run, Addison Hopple in the girls 3,200-meter run, Colt Stockman in the boys discus, Lucas Adams in the boys high jump and long jump, Madolyn Gorby and Peyton Colbert in the girls high jump, Karlie Sampson in the girls long jump, Hunter Owen in the boys shot put and Macey Troy and Maddy Andres in the girls shot put. Salem also qualified girls 4×100-meter, girls 4×400-meter and girls 4×800-meter relay teams.
West Branch qualified Indonika Woods in the girls shot put.
West Holmes qualified Katherine Kaster in the girls 1,600-meter run, Maddax Graham in the boys discus and shot put and Mallory Marmet in the girls discus. The Knights also qualified a girls 4×800-meter relay team.
DIVISION IV
Canton South qualified Katie Haddad in the girls 100-meter hurdles and long jump, Jordyne Ash in the girls 200-meter dash and Max Wackerly in the boys discus.
Claymont qualified Kali Wallace in the girls 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.
Fairless qualified Zachary Gilkerson in the boys 110-meter hurdles, Bronson Brown in the boys 300-meter hurdles, Bradlee Keehn in the boys 800-meter run, Andrew Hearn and Brice Fuller in the boys 1,600-meter run and Brice Fuller in the boys 3,200-meter run. The Falcons also qualified girls 4×100-meter, boys 4×400-meter and boys 4×800-meter relay teams.
Garaway qualified Andrew Wicker in the boys 100-meter dash, Micah Yoder in the boys long jump, Jacob Roudebush in the boys pole vault and Abby Steiner in the girls pole vault. The Pirates also qualified a boys 4×800-meter relay team.
Sandy Valley qualified Sydney Hauenstein in the girls 100-meter hurdles and Taliana Tozzi in the girls high jump.
Tusky Valley qualified Savannah Ashton in the girls 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Abe McElwee in the boys 400-meter dash, Cade Conrad in the boys 800-meter run, Josie Eick and Sami Ward in the girls 800-meter run, Natalie Stokes in the girls 3,200-meter run, Graham Lewis in the boys pole vault and Katie Armstrong and Sara Whitlach in the girls pole vault. The Trojans also qualified a girls 4×800-meter relay team.
Tuslaw qualified Paige Marthey in the girls 300-meter hurdles, Cash Iams in the boys 800-meter run, Adriana Pudloski in the girls 3,200-meter run and Patrick Fox in the boys long jump. The Mustangs also qualified a boys 4×400-meter relay team.
DIVISION V
Dalton qualified Liam Nussbaum in the boys shot put and boys 4×100-meter, boys 4×200-meter and girls 4×800-meter relay teams.
East Canton qualified Cash Clapper in the boys pole vault and a boys 4×800-meter relay team.
East Palestine qualified Landyn Cope in the boys 110-meter hurdles, RJ May in the boys 300-meter hurdles and Braydon Plum in the boys 400-meter dash.
Lake Center Christian qualified Gianna Ritchie in the girls 800-meter run and a girls 4×100-meter relay team.
Leetonia qualified Gray Henderson in the boys 110-meter hurdles.
Malvern qualified Olivia Maher in the girls 100-meter hurdles, Owen Ball in the boys 110-meter hurdles, Parker Bowe in the boys shot put and discus and girls and boys relay teams.
Newcomerstown qualified Samantha Kuder in the girls 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Cameron Kuder in the girls 200-meter dash, Solee Garland in the girls 300-meter hurdles and Molly Seevers in the girls pole vault. The Trojans also qualified girls 4×100-meter and girls 4×200-meter relay teams.
St. Thomas Aquinas qualified Jacarie Corner in the boys 100-meter and 400-meter dashes.
Steubenville Catholic Central qualified James McInnis in the boys high jump and long jump and Joe Owen in the boys 800-meter run.
Strasburg-Franklin qualified Lydia Thomas in the girls 400-meter dash and long jump, Gage Moore in the boys shot put and a girls 4×800-meter relay team.
Tuscarawas Central Catholic qualified Elena Price in the girls 800-meter run.
Wellsville qualified Clayten Kersey in the boys long jump.
SEATED DIVISION
Massillon Perry’s Ahsha DiPietro qualified in the girls 100-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter wheelchair races as well as girls shot put. Christopher Good qualified in the boys 100-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter wheelchair races and boys shot put.
Massillon Jackson’s Will Simons qualified in boys wheelchair track and field events, while Abigail LaPole qualified in girls wheelchair shot put.
Uniontown Lake’s Rennick Darrah qualified in the boys 100-meter wheelchair race, boys 400-meter wheelchair race and boys shot put.
The four-day state meet begins Thursday and concludes Sunday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
