Area schools well represented on Division VI, VII All-Ohio football teams

East Canton, United Local, Malvern, Conotton Valley, Strasburg-Franklin, East Palestine, Garaway, Columbiana Crestview, Newcomerstown, Southern Local and Leetonia were all represented Monday when the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association announced its Division VI and VII football All-Ohio teams.

The lists are based on regular-season performances only. District media panels select all-district teams and then nominate players for All-Ohio consideration.

Division IV and V teams will be released Tuesday, followed by Division II and III on Wednesday. Division I will be announced Thursday.

East Canton lands first-teamer, three others honored

East Canton senior linebacker Dillon Anderson was named to the Division VII first-team defense, highlighting a big night for the Hornets.

Anderson was joined by three teammates on the statewide list:

  • Owen McCroskey, a senior, was voted to the Division VII second-team offense at quarterback.
  • Aydan Stephens, a junior wide receiver, earned third-team offense.
  • Senior defensive lineman Frank Gallagher received honorable mention.

Strasburg-Franklin’s Moore earns first-team spot

Strasburg-Franklin senior linebacker Gage Moore joined Anderson as a Division VII first-team linebacker.

Three other Tigers were recognized:

  • Senior lineman Caden Dugan was named to the Division VII third-team offense.
  • Junior running back Micah McVey and junior linebacker Keizer Thomas both earned honorable mention.

Southern Local gets All-Ohio recognition

Salineville Southern Local was represented by senior running back Landen Heffner, who earned Division VII second-team offense honors.

Conotton Valley places two on second team, three more honored

Bowerston Conotton Valley was led by a pair of Division VII second-team offense selections:

  • Kaden Leggett, a junior quarterback.
  • Gavin Haney, a senior running back.

Three Rockets also collected honorable mention in Division VII:

  • Senior receiver Kamden Wright.
  • Junior offensive lineman Robert Levengood.
  • Sophomore linebacker Isaac Smith.

Malvern stacks up six All-Ohio honorees

Malvern landed six players on the Division VII honorable mention list.

Recognized for the Hornets were:

  • Senior running back Julius Gore.
  • Senior receiver Roy Simmons.
  • Senior defensive lineman Darnell Jackson.
  • Junior defensive lineman Stephen Harmon.
  • Senior linebacker Owen Ball.
  • Senior defensive back Aiden Sprague.

United Local puts three on Division VI team

United Local (Hanoverton) placed three players on the Division VI All-Ohio list.

Junior linebacker M’Kyan Haynes earned second-team defense recognition.

Two Golden Eagles were named honorable mention in Division VI:

  • Senior offensive lineman Tyler Wood.
  • Junior defensive lineman Levi Lucas.

Garaway’s Keller earns first-team nod

Sugarcreek Garaway senior defensive lineman Colson Keller was selected to the Division VI first-team defense, giving the Pirates a top-level All-Ohio honoree.

Garaway also had six players named honorable mention in Division VI:

  • Junior running back Matthew Frey.
  • Senior wide receiver Micah Yoder.
  • Senior offensive lineman Brady Miller.
  • Senior defensive lineman Dillon King.
  • Senior linebacker Thomas Grimm.
  • Junior defensive back Wyatt Reifenschneider.

Columbiana Crestview earns multiple Division VI honors

Columbiana Crestview placed three players on the Division VI All-Ohio teams.

Senior quarterback Jake Noling was named to the first-team offense, while senior linebacker Mikey Proctor earned second-team defense honors.

Senior defensive back Caidyn McElhaney rounded out the Rebels’ list with a Division VI honorable mention selection.

Newcomerstown represented in Division VI

Newcomerstown senior running back Dom Singer was selected to the Division VI second-team offense, giving the Trojans statewide recognition.

Senior linebacker Josh Harvey later added honorable mention honors on the defensive side of the ball.

Leetonia earns Division VII recognition

Leetonia senior defensive back Ethan Mathia was named Division VII honorable mention, placing the Bears on the All-Ohio list.

East Palestine’s Klingensmith honored up front

East Palestine senior offensive lineman Ayvre Klingensmith was named Division VII honorable mention, placing the Bulldogs on the statewide list.
