Canton police have identified the woman killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning at the intersection of U.S. Route 62 and Harmont Avenue NE.

According to a news release issued Monday by the Canton Police Department, officers responded to the crash at approximately 10:27 a.m. on July 18 at the intersection of U.S. 62 and Harmont Avenue NE.

Investigators said a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on U.S. 62 while a 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling westbound on state Route 62 and attempting to turn south onto Harmont Avenue NE when it was struck by the Silverado.

The force of the collision pushed both vehicles into the southeast corner of the intersection. Police said the Silverado overturned, and the driver of the Mirage had to be extricated from the vehicle because of the extent of the damage.

Both drivers were transported to Aultman Hospital. The driver of the Silverado was treated and released. The driver of the Mirage, identified as Erin R. Stevens, 30, of Alliance, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Canton Metro Crash Team is investigating the crash. Police said speed is not believed to have been a factor, and it remains unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
