Three people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a vehicle crashed, struck a utility pole and overturned into a pond Saturday evening in Canton, authorities said.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. April 19 in the 4000 block of Market Avenue North, according to a news release from the Canton Fire Department.
Dispatchers reported that the vehicle sheared off a utility pole before leaving the roadway and overturning into a nearby pond. When crews arrived, the vehicle was found upside down in the water.
All three male occupants had been ejected from the vehicle and were located on the shoreline. Fire personnel provided medical care at the scene before transporting the individuals to area hospitals. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Crews also worked to minimize environmental damage by deploying containment booms across the pond to control fluids leaking from the vehicle.
Two members of the department’s water rescue team assisted a towing company in securing the vehicle for safe removal from the water.
The Canton Police Department said it will conduct a full accident reconstruction. No additional injuries were reported.
