UPDATE: Canton Police say 15-year-old Amir Pepe Lucas has turned himself in. He was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of his 12-year-old brother late Friday night.

Canton police are searching for a 15-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting his 12-year-old sibling late Friday night before fleeing the residence.

Officers responded to a 10:40 p.m. 911 call reporting a shooting at 3623 Ellis Ave. NE. Police and Canton Fire medics found the victim inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. The child was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Canton Police Chief John Gabbard.

Detectives are looking for the suspect, identified as Amir Pepe Lucas, 15, who police say is the victim’s brother. Lucas is considered endangered and missing and is also believed to be armed and dangerous, Gabbard said. An arrest warrant for reckless homicide was issued for the suspect Saturday afternoon.

“I want to encourage Amir to surrender and ask the Canton community for help in locating him,” Gabbard said in a statement. “Our primary concern right now is for Amir’s safety and wellbeing. This is absolutely heartbreaking for the family and a tragedy for the community. My prayers are with them and I also pray that it can come to a close without additional heartbreak.”

Police described Lucas as 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information on Lucas’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Canton Police Detective Bureau at 330-489-3144 or the Canton Communications Center at 330-649-5800.
