A man died early Friday after his car left the road, struck a tree and caught fire on State Route 43 in Sandy Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 5:59 a.m. near Indian Run Road. Troopers said the driver was heading north in a 2013 BMW 528xi when it ran off the right side of the road, hit a tree and became engulfed in flames.
Bystanders pulled the driver from the vehicle before it was fully consumed. He was taken to Aultman Hospital by Quad EMS and pronounced dead from his injuries.
The Mohawk Valley Fire Department and Quad EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
