A Mineral City man wanted in connection with a recent domestic violence investigation was arrested Thursday morning after leading law enforcement on a short motorcycle and foot pursuit in Tuscarawas County.
Detective Captain Adam Fisher with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop at 10:46 a.m. on Indian Hill Road SE in Uhrichsville. The suspect, who was riding without a helmet, was identified as Russell Renicker. He from the stop on a motorcycle.
Renicker was already wanted on a probation violation warrant out of Southern District Court and was a suspect in an August 5 domestic violence incident in the New Cumberland area, Fisher said.
After a brief motorcycle pursuit, Renicker encountered additional deputies ahead and laid the motorcycle down in the roadway. He then ran into a nearby wooded area.
By 10:47 a.m., deputies found Renicker hiding under brush in a creek along and was taken into custody.
He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the pursuit. Upon his release, he will be booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail.
Additional charges related to the pursuit are expected to be filed.
The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Uhrichsville Police Department, Uhrichsville Fire Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
