An 18-year-old woman who drowned in a private swimming pool Wednesday evening in southwest Canton has been identified as Jamehia Smothers, according to Stark County Coroner Chief Investigator Harry Campbell.

Emergency crews were called around 6:30 p.m. to a residence in the 2400 block of 10th Street SW, where bystanders were already performing CPR on Smothers before first responders arrived, Canton Fire Battalion Chief Steve Henderson told JordanMiller.News.
