The Minerva Lady Lions golf team is rewriting the record books.

For the second straight week, Minerva broke its own school record, shooting a team score of 345 on Monday at the Garaway Pirate Invitational held at Zoar Golf Club. The performance was good enough to earn a runner-up finish in a strong 20-team field.

The Lions’ record-setting effort was led by sophomore Peyton Beaumariage, who fired a 1-over-par 73 to finish second overall individually. Freshman Emery Sell carded an 80 to place inside the top 10, while junior Delaney Sell added an 88 and senior Mady Bartley shot 105 to round out the team score.

Minerva’s only loss on the day came to powerhouse Bishop Fenwick, a Division II state championship contender that finished fourth in the state last season. Bishop Fenwick claimed the team title with a commanding score of 308.

The second-place finish moves Minerva to 2-0 on the young season.
