One of Stark County’s most accomplished basketball coaches is back on the sidelines.
Paul Wackerly has been named the new head girls basketball coach at Green High School and will lead the Bulldogs this winter, according to Q92’s Sam Bourquin.
Wackerly, a Hall of Famer with a storied career, brings more than three decades of coaching experience to Green. Over 33 seasons, he has compiled 526 career wins as the girls coach at St. Thomas Aquinas, North Canton Hoover, and GlenOak, as well as the boys coach at Perry.
His return to coaching follows his departure from GlenOak prior to the 2024-25 season. Wackerly spent 10 seasons leading the Golden Eagles’ girls program before the Plain Local School District announced he would not be returning, just weeks before the season began.
Now, Wackerly turns the page to a new chapter at Green, where he’ll look to build a winning culture and guide the Bulldogs through the upcoming season.
