Fire crews were called to the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Jackson Township early Thursday morning after a passerby reported flames coming from behind the building.
The Jackson Township Fire Department responded to the scene at 1:48 a.m. at the restaurant located at 6940 Sunset Strip Ave NW. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly deployed handlines to knock down an exterior fire and conducted interior operations to prevent further damage.
Mutual aid was provided by the North Canton Fire Department. The Stark County Health Department and the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office were also contacted as part of the response.
The building sustained significant smoke and water damage, and currently remains without power. A contractor was brought in to secure the structure.
One firefighter suffered a non-life-threatening injury, officials said.
The restaurant is expected to remain closed indefinitely pending further inspection and investigation.
