One of the most anticipated summer events in Stark County returns this weekend as the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Balloon Classic Presented by Aultman lifts off with colorful hot-air balloons, live entertainment, fireworks, and family fun.
The three-day event runs Friday, July 25 through Sunday, July 27 on the campus of Kent State University at Stark and Stark State College. It is expected to draw more than 130,000 spectators, making it one of the most attended events of the entire Enshrinement Festival.
Five scheduled balloon flights are planned—weather permitting—along with a variety of other attractions. Hot-air balloons typically launch in the early morning and early evening when wind conditions are calm. The first flight is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. Friday, with additional flights Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday and Sunday mornings. All flights are subject to weather conditions, as balloons require wind speeds below 8 mph for safe launch.
The popular Night Glow returns Friday at 9 p.m., featuring balloons illuminating the night sky in sync with music. On both Friday and Saturday evenings, crowds will be treated to a Drone Light Show sponsored by The Timken Company and a fireworks finale Saturday night at 10 p.m. presented by Synchrony.
Other highlights include:
- Tethered balloon rides for $25 (ages 13+), $15 (ages 6–12), and free for kids 5 and under, available during designated times each day.
- Live music and DJs on the Sugardale Stage.
- A Children’s Education Area, inflatables, and skydiving exhibitions.
- Dozens of food vendors offering everything from pizza to funnel cakes.
The venue opens at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free, but parking is $15 (cash only) after 2 p.m. at the Kent State Stark and Stark State lots via Frank Ave. Limited handicap-accessible parking is available with a valid permit.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, but tents and pets are not permitted. Only service animals are allowed. As a reminder, Kent State University at Stark is a smoke- and tobacco-free campus.
Event organizers advise attendees to arrive early for morning flights and allow extra time for evening traffic. For complete schedules and visitor information, visit www.visitcanton.com.
