A Canton woman is facing assault and disorderly conduct charges after allegedly attacking an 11-year-old girl and telling the child’s mother she hoped the girl would die.

According to a report from the Canton Police Department, officers were called to the 1600 block of Clark Avenue SW on Friday afternoon for a reported assault. When police arrived, they encountered 19-year-old Destany Scott, who was reportedly involved in a heated dispute with the child’s mother, Paige Dishong.

Dishong told police that Scott had gotten into a fight with her daughter at a nearby park and allegedly “repeatedly slammed her head off the metal portion of a slide,” the report states.

As officers took Scott into custody, she allegedly made a threatening statement to Dishong, saying she hoped the 11-year-old would die.

Following that remark, Dishong reportedly charged at Scott and was also arrested. She has been charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing official business
