The Birmingham Stallions advanced to the USFL Championship after beating the New Orleans Breakers, 31-17, in Saturday night’s semifinal at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

Birmingham (10-1) beat New Orleans for the third time this season and became the only 10-win USFL team of the inaugural 2022 campaign.

The Stallions played even with the Breakers throughout most of the first half before returner Victor Bolden Jr. ran back a kickoff to make it a 21-14 halftime lead.

Birmingham quarterback D’Mar Smith completed 17 of 27 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown to lead the Stallions offense.

The Stallions kept the ball out of New Orleans’ hands for most of the second half, forcing Breakers slinger Kyle Sloter into throwing two interceptions for the contest.

Birmingham will play in next Sunday’s USFL Championship against the Philadelphia Stars, who beat the New Jersey Generals in Saturday’s earlier semifinal.
