The Alliance Career Center has announced they will no longer provide adult education programs starting with the 2022-23 school year and beyond.

One of the most well known adult education programs in Alliance is the Robert T. White School of Nursing.

Superintendent Robert Gress said the district wants to shift their focus to youth-based education.

“We have provided adult education services for many years and are proud to have done so,” he said in an email to students. “As a district, however, we are refocusing our work so that it puts us in the best possible position to serve our PreK-12th grade students.”

With the announcement to end the adult education program, many adults will be left to find new schools to enroll into.

Gress said he understands the importance of adult education, but the district has a responsibility to prepare young students.

“While we are all strong advocates of adult education, our focus is educating children,” Gress said. “Our primary goal is to ensure our PreK-12 programs are effectively preparing our students for life, college, and careers.”
