The spike in COVID-19 infections and concerns over the new omicron variant heading into Christmas is making at-home COVID-19 test kits hard to find just over two weeks away from the big day.

Many stores and pharmacies across the U.S. say there’s a short supply for the kits as people stock up before holiday get-togethers. The Ohio Department of Health has asked libraries, health departments and other establishments providing free at-home tests to limit distribution to four per household per day.

One pharmacist told NBC in Boston that they are turning to online retailers such as Amazon to try and keep some on their own shelves.

Health officials warn that the rapid antigen tests are not as accurate as PCR lab tests, but can still be an ok option.
