The Tuscarawas County Health Department is concerned about the latest wave in new Covid-19 cases and deaths across the area.

The health department released updated numbers recently, reporting 75 people have died from September to November, with 15 reported deaths in the last seven days.

The age range of the local residents who have died from the virus are 33 to 95.

The health department said 72% of those who died were not fully vaccinated, while 28% were fully vaccinated.

“To the loved ones of those who passed away, we are so sorry for your unimaginable loss,” shared Katie Seward, Tuscarawas County Health Commissioner. “We share in your sorrow at the toll this virus has taken on Tuscarawas County families, and our thoughts and condolences are with you.”

Just under 43% of Tuscarawas County residents are vaccinated; while nearly 56% of Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The county trails other counties, who are seeing death, cases and hospitalizations on a decline.
